As an aircraft maintenance apprentice I would shadow technicians during the work helping to assist them when needed. I would look at task cards then look it up in the aircraft maintenance manual for warnings and tools needed then carrying out the task with an licensed engineer to check and supervise
Developed a better knowledge on different parts of an aircraft and what it does and the different tools that are needed. Learnt the procedure and safety warning that go when working on an aircraft
I really enjoyed how the apprenticeship was layed out and the way British Airways allowed to gain experience and get a feel for working on aircraft’s before going to resource group
It’s structured really well as everything is planned for the three years of the programme and the future ahead of this
Received a lot of support and I feel welcomed and supported
The training provider resource group have been really organised in terms of planning the whole course and are really knowledgeable on the module there going to teach us about. Our learning support lead Louise has been supportive in terms of letting us know who to talk to if we have problems with anything
It allows me to develop a better knowledge of aircraft systems
There is an enrichment day where we have a range of activities and games to take part in
Yes
The apprenticeship scheme really well thought out and it a skill that you have for life and BA support you throughout and you get a job at the end of the programme
Make sure you have a passion and desire to work and learn about aircraft
