Monday is my btec college day where we study various subjects ranging from maths, electronic principles, communications and materials. For the rest of the week i am located in the workshop learning several engineering principles. This ranges from PLC, fluid power, milling, turning, welding, mechanical, electrical and electronics. The workshop is both challenging and informative
I have learned vast amounts of skills since the beginning of my apprenticeship. Several new skills such as PLCs and machining work. I have however gained other valuable skills such as computer skills, presenting skills, and mathematical skills. I feel i have gained several valuable skills and developed my old ones such as welding.
I thoroughly enjoy the programme. As a mature apprentice i have struggled to revert back to school life but i feel i have adapted well and my employer and college have helped me greatly. I have learned valuable skills and made genuine friendships throughout the course. I am very happy with the course material too.
The organization has been good so far from my employer have gone above and beyond to assist me. The college could see with some improvements due to their turnover of staff but the structure of the programme is ell laid out and some of the tutors are second to none.
I receive unrivaled amounts of support from my employer. From the beginning they have been supportive and transparent. It is made clear from the start the responsibility that is expected of you. I have appreciate the trust that has been shown in me and i will be forever grateful to my manage for the oppourtunity.
The training provider provides more than enough support, through tutors, reviews and easily accessible class work. I have had some issues and i feel i can talk to the college in confidence about my issues. The tutors at the college are always very willing to assist you and are always supportive.
The training provided will help me in my role especially with learning electrical and mechanical. There are certain subjects that are not necessary for me to learn however i still feel it will be beneficial to understand the processes moving forward. Over all i am happy with the training provider and pleased with the qualification.
There are vast amounts of extra curricular activities available and you are encouraged to participate. In my case i have created new teams to participate in. If you do take part in extra curricular activities you are rewarded and your hard work doesn't go unrecognized. The activities available are definitely worth it.
