My day to day role involves travelling to oxford for my first year. I then complete 2 btec lessons on a Monday being science and math being 4 hours each. From Tuesday to Thursday I spend time in the workshop completing rotation like welding for example.
I have completed the rotation PLC, mechanical, welding, hand fitting, milling, turning and business improvement. All of these rotations have developed my confidence in working in teams but also independently when having to complete assessments for example.
I really enjoy my programme as it can set up you for a good future and give you valuable life skills. You meet many people from other plants building networks and making good friends. Opportunities like the newsletter and charity team is great endorsement to be a part of.
The programme is well structured in which alll the rotation and groups are organised when you start. From the employer side you receive lots of help and are able to do many things and become involved in big events whereas the training side doesnt offer much apart from the traning itself
I get lots of support from my employer when I need it. Weekly meetings help with getting any messages across to our manager. Our manager is always trying her best to help us when she can for example.
Within the first year there is not much working towards the main qualification but completing level 2 and btec on Mondays and in the week always gets done.
The training i have undergone has equipped me with the knowledge and understanding to help me perform better in certain roles.
There are so many opportunities to get involved with when working at BMW group things like the apprentice news letter or charity champions gives you great help to network as a first year with other apprentice.
