I am a BIM apprentice, my day to day job roles revolves around working within CAD and 3D design.
I have learned how to use Unity because one of the first projects i did when being employed into the company where my task was to create a drive-through simulator for the A1 Birtley to Coalhouse. I have also massively developed my CAD skills as well as my skills within meetings and effective communication.
I really enjoy working at Costain, The people I work with are great and my day to day work is challenging and fun. However, the college I have been to for my apprenticeship has not been great, there have been problems with tutors and then we were the ones to suffer with more stress on deadlines for assignments. I would NOT recommend New College Durham for further apprentices.
My programme is well structured with one day a week being at college and the other four days working as usual.
My manager has offered me as much support as I've needed and more and has also pointed me in the direction of further support in case i ever needed it.
My training provider has offered support whenever needed and I've asked for it.
My qualification has given me lots of knowledge about the Construction industry as a whole and has also included many aspects that i do in my normal day to day work allowing me to perform better from what I've learned.
There are lots of networking and social events that occur from work where teams can get together.
Yes
Costain has been a great place to work at with the amount of support given whenever i need it as well as supporting me through any personal outside of work issues I've had.
Costain has fun but challenging work, and there is much support offered all throughout the company where it is needed and is a company filled with great people.
