At Softcat, I work as an Account Manager. This means that day-to-day, I am staying in contact with my clients and doing my best to stay on top of their IT needs as well as bring forward suggestions that I believe will improve the quality of their business. I stay in contact using a variety of methods such as emails, calls and potentially reaching out over LinkedIn.
I have developed self-management skills, as well as organisational skills, social skills and improved my confidence when reaching out to customers. My IT knowledge has also grown significantly and I now feel confident when approaching customers with IT solutions. My overall confidence has also seen improvements which have helped me outside of work.
My programme has been very enjoyable, the people around me have been extremely welcoming and friendly. Softcat as a culture is massively inviting and all new people are made to feel comfortable when they join. The programme I am on has helped me to learn a number of skills and has been enjoyable to embark on.
My programme is well organised. The enrolment process is very well laid out allowing for new people coming into the business to not be overwhelmed by the new environment. However, it is up to the employee to organise themselves past a certain point as would be expected by any business.
The support at Softcat is endless, with anyone around you willing to dish out help no matter what the scenario be. Many people will try to help you to the best of their ability even if it is not their most comfortable field. Softcat is full of friendly employees all open to helping anyone who may need assistance.
Support from my training provider is available whenever I may need it, they are extremely helpful and always quick to respond to any of my problems. They have always been consistent with their help and their feedback is second to none, helping me to fix a problem with ease.
By completing my training provider qualification, it gives me a breakdown of where I am at within my job role, at that given time. My projects are good timestamps and progress markers to see how far I have come and how my knowledge has expanded during my seven months at Softcat.
At Softcat, there are a number of different extra-curricular activities that any employee can get involved in. These consist of football on a Monday night, there is a run-club which is held before work on Tuesday and Thursday. There are also a number of different communities that employees can partake in.

Everyone at Softcat is given the opportunity and resources to excel in their career, from great managers and team leaders, to friendly colleagues you'll meet along the way. Everything about Softcat is positive.
When applying, it is important to be honest and put your best self forward. Try to demonstrate skills that would be valued at any workplace as well as basic manners and etiquette. There is no doubt that Softcat would be more than happy to hire someone who is committed to their work and to being an overall good person.
