I work in Commercial Banking within RBS as a Portfolio Manager. I assist Relationship Mangagers in their day to day customer responsibilities.
I have learnt much more about Banking and the different oppotunities within a bank. I have also learnt about the different systems used within Banking.
I enjoy my role and responsibilities, i also enjoy working with other apprentices and working through workbooks and other tasks. It allows you to meet new people and built working relationships.
I feel valued as an employee within RBS and there are many training oppotunites within the business. Also they provide you with extra support from other people in the business.
It could have been organised better at the start of the programme as we were not told about our roles till the day we started. We also had some confusion on the training we were going to be provided.
I have recieved a lot of support from my Mentor, however i havent recieved much support from BPP as a whole. We only had one training week at the start of the apprenticeship and havent had any since.
RBS have provided a lot of support to the apprentices and have put on training activities and have allowed any time required to complete the apprenticeship.
The salary is good for an apprenticeship however we havent recieved much of an increase on completing the apprenticeship which i thought we might.
I have been on a couple of networking events since starting my apprenticeship but havent had too many other oppotunities. We were encouraged to make the most of all oppotunities.
Yes
RBS has been a good starting point for my career straight from college and i think they have made improvements to the scheme since i started in 2013.
Make sure you focus on the customer when asked any questions by RBS during interviews etc as they ensure the customer is always put first. Also make the most of all the oppotunities within the business.
