Auditing public and social sector clients, i.e. confirming that the disclosures in the draft financial statements are correct by analytical review and test of detail.
Yes, I had no accounting knowledge before I started this journey.
Very much, I like the company & my colleagues and find the work challenging and engaging.
From the ICAEW and BPP end, very organised and well structured. From the Mazars end, very poor in terms of apprenticeship-focused training, i.e. the early careers team don't seem to have a clue what they are doing (though they may just be majorly understaffed)
As above, apprenticeship-wise not great, I do get a decent amount of time off to study. From a client work perspective, excellent.
Enough, I am quite an independent learner so only really require time to study, not much else.
Very well. I apply theory and practical skills I've learned during the course constantly in my day to day client work.
No, I am not a very social person. I do attend team socials that occur monthly and additionally on an ad hoc basis.
Yes
They are great to work for, there is a real culture of high standards and meritocracy. My colleagues in the team are all very nice and I don't find I work poorly with anyone. They are flexible with working hours and allow me to work from home 2/3 days per week which I love.
Go for it!
