Providing data insights to internal colleagues. Analysing big quantity of data using various languages (SQL, Pyhton, R) , creating reports and dashboard in Tableau. All these supports operations, sales and assessment teams as well and senior managers in their day to day activities as well as in their planning. Decision making is based on data that I and the res of the team provide.
I am learning how to code in Pyhton and using Pandas. I am also developing my SQL code writing skills. Part of my apprenticeship will also help me with creating exiting and appealing dashboards as well as exploring data science and machine learning which could be great skills to have in the future.
I am very happy with the Pearson employee apprenticeship programme, so much so that I am also an apprenticeship ambassador for the London office. I am a point of contact for anyone who want to know more about apprenticeship or for current apprentices and in need of help and support. As part of my role as an ambassador I also attend external events where we showcase what Pearson has to offer as an employer of apprentices.
The programme from the training provider point of view is structured in such a way that is easy to follow and to stay on top of things. The tutors are helpful and knowledgeable. The Pearson apprenticeship programme is so well structure with the full involvement of manager and a mentor allocated internally to each apprentice so that we are fully support throughout the course.
The support is great. My manager is fully supportive of me and is committed to help and support when needed. The fact that I am also supported by a mentor who is a senior member of the data analyst team helps a lot, especially with technical aspects of the programme. We can also count on the programme manager and other apprentices
The tutor so far has been very helpful and has made sure that the class if following and understanding the subject presented. The system used by the training provider makes it easy to review and practice as well as tracking progress, see what is coming up and what tasks are due.
As I am new to the world of data analysis I feel that after completing this apprenticeship I will be in a much better position in performing in my role. Although I can do some basic activities, I think I will be able to produce much better reports and dashboard once I finish.
Yes there are, we organise social activities within the team and we also have events for apprentices and apprentices ambassadors both in person and online. Usually when events are organised for apprentices some professional development is also offered as well as some social and fun activities. This make doing an apprenticeship a lot more fun.
Yes
It is a great place to work, with opportunities to grow, develop and progress in your career. I am lucky that I am in a team where the support is available in abundance. I have been working at Pearson for a while and I have completed an other apprenticeship previously.
The advise that I would give to someone applying to Pearson is to research what we do. We are not just an exam board but we are also an EPAO and a publisher. Prepare and show that you care and want to work for the company. Make sure you ask questions when you go for the interview.
