Project management is a diverse role, i am able to change placements every 12 months ensuring i am gaining competence in Project Management Skills, Knowledge and behaviours. I attend university once a week and placement the rest. I am also entitled to stretch which can involve inducting apprentices into the business, careers fairs and much more.
I am learning all new skills to become a competent project manager including Risk management, governance and frameworks, scheduling, communications management and so much more. I have developed since starting my career extensively, rating myself every 12 weeks of my progress to ensure i have targets for my skills for my development.
I enjoy working as a project management apprentice. It is an amazing job and there are so many opportunities made available for you. I don't think i would be able to get this type of support working elsewhere, my development couches have helped me progress within my apprenticeship and placement managers aid me on ensuring i am gaining the right competencies where there's gaps.
The project management degree apprenticeship is very well structured. since starting i have been provided a booklet which has all information in it to ensure i gain full competence as a project manager by year 5. Its a roadmap to success. There are documents provided which allow apprentices to track progress, results, evidence and much more to show they have developed within in 5 years.
I receive full support from my employer, i have a skills coach who helps me throughout my time as an apprentice. i have regular 12 week reviews with them to monitor progress and development, they are always there for support or any questions i have.
I receive full support from my training provider. University of cumbia have resources to help when writing assignments, needing feedback, needing support and much more. 1-1's can also be arranged between apprentices and tutors for additional help.
My qualification helps me perform better in my role as it provides me with transferable knowledge for my placement work. It helps me undertake tasks using my understanding from university.
I take part in any new and upcoming opportunities my job provides me with. i have taken part in careers fairs, engineering fairy tales, STEM, inducting apprentices and much more.
