My role as an apprentice involves studying towards 2 level 3 qualifications with City and Guilds along with CAA cat A modules, for a cat A licence. Our day involves either a theoretical study within the classroom or in a practical environment such as the workshop or hanger. When involved with the theoretical study a slot is allocated at the end of the day to consolidate our notes and continued study
Yes many skills have been developed whilst on the course such as: communication Team work Tool - Discipline Health and Safety to name a few.... The skills learnt have also tied in with the company values allowing us to become company valued employees. There are and I am sure there will be plenty of opportunities to develop our skills.
The Programme involves a wide range of theory an practical aspects related to aircraft maintenance, allowing us to gain valuable experience of the industry we all have a passion for. The people we work with and the knowledge gained is invaluable.
There is a clear structure to our programme which was informed from day 1, we have a document which lays out what is conducted each day up until our 2nd year which is a placement which will be provided upon starting.
The support available is informed on our daily meetings, everything medical help to financial. From a learning aspect my employer provides a well trained and knowledgeable team which provides a wide scope of knowledge and personalities. If support is needed we all know the process to do so.
The support is clearly placed out with daily consolidations of our grading and progress within the course. when support is needed our employer is quick to provide any advice and/material.
The Qualifications provide a plethora of valuable knowledge and experience especially from our lecturers. it provides both theoretical and practical knowledge

The company provides an excellent pension, and competitive salary compared to other companies. The training courses and team are all very knowledgeable and give a valued insight to the industry we are all training in. The experience is also transferable to everyday life.
For those who wish to apply I'd recommend remaining themselves throughout the application process as BAE are looking for a diverse team of individuals from different backgrounds and personalities.
