In my current placement I look at Risk and Learning from Experience. On a day to day basis I attend Risk reviews, provide detailed reports of LfE as well as facilitating events to capture LfE. I look at opening Risks as well as mitigating, transferring or illuminating the Risk completely.
I have learnt howto use different software such as Teamcenter and ARM. I have also learnt how Risk works and the effect i has on a project, programme and at a company level. On top of this my personal development has improved loads since starting the apprenticeship my confidence and other soft skills have developed.
I really enjoy the apprenticeship, on my programme it gives me opportunity to look at many different aspects of the business and learn a variety of skills both soft and technical for different areas of the business. The apprenticeship has developed me as a person and i have a fantastic support system in my team, early careers and University.
Our programme is 5 years long made up of 3 12 month placements and 1 2 year placement known as your exit role. In the first 3 years we move around the company in different placements learning different skills and areas of the business, in the final 2 years w exit into our exit role which is the role we will exit the placement in. By having KSB'S (Knowledge,Skills and behaviours) it ensures we get a well rounded education alongside uni to ensure us the best opportunities in our chosen field.
I receive great support with trained professionals in every area we need support. for work based support i have my line manager who can guide me as well as challenge me to get the best work from me i also have a team of Risk Leads happy to help both with my apprenticeship[ as a whole and Risk based work. I have early careers for any queries with my personal life or regarding the apprenticeship and university tutors for help with uni work.
University are very helpful we always receive our feedback in a timely manner and detailed feedback on work handed in. on top of this we are assigned a tutor for any other queries regarding university.
Our university modules relate back to the KSB's we have to hit for our apprenticeship this ensures we are learning about the skills we use on the job e.g: we will do a risk management module, this is also a ksb.
we have networking activities set up by early careers as well as activities we set up as apprentices we also do a week at outward bound this is a week long team building exercise that includes activities such as Jacobs ladder and raft building.
Yes
It is an amazing course that is well structure and allows you to learn on the job and be paid whilst earning a degree and industry experience putting you above other candidates who may just attend university.
Don't give up if you don't get in first time. And if you do get in take every opportunity and use the resource given to you learn from the experienced professionals on the job.
