I am an apprentice scientist in the host strain development team, so I mainly work on strain engineering projects and strain optimisation. This is mixed in with fermentation experience and experience of other teams work too.
Since I started at CPI I have gained many new skills and am now fully independent in almost all of my lab work. I would not have known what most of the things in the lab were before I started my program.
I enjoy my programme a lot as it allows me to build technical skills and knowledge at the same time.
In general the programme is pretty well structed but could probably benefit from some more clear communication around the structure approaching later years and EPA.
I receive plenty of support from my employer. This is through the form of flexible uni days, being able to ask questions about work or uni and overall general support towards achieving my goals.
I receive a fair amount of support from MMU, with the tutors and skills coaches always available to contact via email or teams.
My qualification helps me greatly in my role as a lot of the units taught relate a lot to the work I do on a day to day basis.
Yes we have a monday night 5 aside game set up by colleagues. There are many networing opportunities to get involved in. The association of apprentices is pushed at CPI.

Show a keen interest in science innovation and making the world a better place. Be personable and try to relate with your interviewer/host. You will most likely be given a tour and this could be part of your interview/show interest.
