  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role as a level 6 packaging apprentice means that I am involved in numerous lab tests to ensure packaging can be qualified and move onto the market. These lab tests I complete look at functionality, quality assurance and ecommerce testing.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt many skills such as presentation skills, time management, increased confidence when in meetings with team members/suppliers. I have also learnt so much about how a large worldwide business operated and all of the different sectors involved in allowing the company to prosper.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy my programme so far as each day I am able to learn something different and exciting at work. I am increasing my knowledge both in packaging, professional skills and I am able to meet lots of amazing people due to my programme.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is well structured, giving me allocated time to complete university work one day a week. This allows me to keep a work, life, university balance.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I revive lots of support from both my line manager, and mentor, while also having a very supportive team at work. I am able to ask many questions, get support of university work and also receive weekly catch ups for any queries I may have.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The support from my university is good, however it can be hard to contact people at times, due to peoples busy schedules and due to the fact I am far away from the training providers location.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel I am able to learn new ways of thinking and concepts that I never considered before, and this allows me to look at the work I do in everyday life, and see new ways of working and solving problems.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I am part of an onboarding team where I am able to help out at events. I am also able to go out with my team for social events as well as socials with other apprenticed at my work location.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • It is an extremely exciting and interesting environment to work in with so many great opportunities. The company also is extremely supportive and welcoming to new starters.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Unilever?
  • Be confident and do some research into the company values/the work that they do, show how you would fit with these values and how you could add to them. Also ask questions.
