  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Providing personal tax advise to wealthy individuals and business owners. This includes pitching for work, providing advice and delivering advice to clients. My role also includes trust and estates advice and family office advice.

    8/10

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes, communication, report writing, technical tax knowledge, relationship building.

    8/10

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy my job. It is challenging and I have a great team. I feel supported through my accounting and tax exams. Report writing is not always interesting depending on the subject but I enjoy the relationship building side of my job.

    9/10

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Average. Our early careers team don't have a very good understanding of my apprentership and do not communicate with us very well. However, there are a lot of graduate's in my office who offer good support as they have recently been through the programme.

    5/10

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • We get a good level of support. We get time off to study and my team is very understanding when it is around exam period.

    7/10

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Average, I have nothing to compare it to but it's been ok.

    8/10

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The CTA exams are hugely helpful for my role as a tax adviser. The ACA exams are helpful for general business knowledge but a lot of them are very audit focused which are not very helpful for my job at all. The apprentership skills and behaviours are not helpful at all. They are a complete waste of time.

    5/10

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes loads. Mostly sports clubs but there is a club for everything if you look. They aren't very well funded though.

    7/10

  • 9a. Would you recommend Forvis Mazars to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I enjoy my job and the people are great.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Forvis Mazars?
  • Unless you are sure you want to do tax make sure you are able to get your ACA and CTA as it will be more transferable in future.
