My job role on a day to day involved me driving bags to and from the aircraft side to the passengers waiting in the baggage hall, I will place there bags on the arrival belts to be delivered to the pax. I am now doing my training for loading so I can progress with my spore to ship
There has been many skills I have developed and learnt such as team working, multi tasking, being proactive, productive, adaptable and many more !!
I do enjoy my program quite a lot due to the flexibility of how I can change my shifts around to suite my personal life. This didn’t come without any challenges to get to that because this was not implemented in place when I first started off with BA. I also enjoy this apprenticeship as I can generally be my self, comfortable and free of judgment of how and who I am !!
The structure of the apprenticeship is organised quite poorly in certain areas such as putting in offline days for study days, emails, communication with different managers/teams, and the communication with BA and SEETEC our training provider !! Most of these problems have been ironed out and hopefully these changed that have been made with the apprenticeship will help the next co Hort next year !!
I do receive a large amount of support from my employer such as in the elements of shift swaps, help managing work and social life, mental health and other stresses and many more !!
I do receive the most amount of support and training provider SEETEC and Jinel my tutor, she provided a large amount of support such as in help with duties, CPD logs and general life experience in the industry !
The training from the training provider is very basic and doesn’t give me much if any more information that I use on a day to day basis, the course is very basic and to what knowledge I have taken from this is very little !
Yes there are many social events I can get my hands stuck into such as sports events, charity events such as a mud run, and many more things such as mental health workshops ext !
Yes
I would recommend the company to a friend BUT I would not recommend my type of apprenticeship to a friend due to the lack of structure, organisation and management presence !!
I would recommend they aim high and apply for a role in the head offices such as waterside or the GLA. An apprenticeship like mine is very hard work and if they would like to do it be prepared to work shifts, all weathers, have little to. I notice when things are gonna be happening with some times little of 24 hours notice ! Be adaptable to the change
