My role on a day to day basis consists of manually signing into a device I use to carry out my logistics duties. After I go to get a tug, check the tug and wait to receive jobs to carry out.
I have learnt a lot from my trainers with in depth knowledge of my job role with new skills. I have also gained new skills in other areas from shadowing for example working with a dispatcher.
I enjoy the practical side of my programme with being up close to the aircraft and having the opportunity to speak to pilots. I also enjoy the workshops with our dedicated training person as it’s very interactive and engaging.
Our initial training for our job role was well organised and structured with in depth knowledge into what we need to do and know. The apprenticeship side has been slightly more challenging with different instances occurring for example, miss communication and not being kept in the loop. This had been resolved afterwards.
I receive good support from my employer as there has been some issues that have been resolved by them. If I need any assistance from them, they are quick to respond to our emails and help us in the best way they can.
I receive a lot of support from my training provider when it comes to working towards my qualifications as she always asks if I have any questions with what i am doing. If I do have any questions, she is more than happy to assist.
I feel that some parts of my qualification helps me to understand my role more with the different regulations that needs to be followed.
Yes there are extra-curricular activities that are offered to us if we would like to participate in them.
Yes
I would recommend British Airways to a friend as the benefits of the job are very good. You are also working for a flagship carrier as British Airways is the airline for Britain.
I would say to have knowledge of the airline before applying to British Airways and base level knowledge of the aviation industry.
