I do 6 monthly placements in different engineering teams across the business building up knowledge and experience in a variety of different programmes. I have been involved with Requirement and Interface work in System Design, but also Integration Pathways and Interconnection diagrams within a Integration and Test team.
Not only am I building my professional conduct and confidence within meetings and writing emails, but also gaining relevant workplace engineering skills and techniques. This includes document wrappers, requirement databases, modelling software, Standards and Specification alongside the general company processes and behaviours.
I really enjoy the way the placements are laid out in this programme, each being six months long, you get a real variety in the departments you get experience in. Alongside this you can take part in Stretch activities ranging from Career Fairs to STEM Activities.
This has really developed over my time in the apprenticeship with further Early Career staff being employed which has greatly helped out with the structure of the course alongside the Training Provider. I feel there is a better relationship between us, the company, and the Training Provider.
No matter if I need support with placements, College Work or Personal life there is always someone to talk to that will either help out or find someone who is able to. There is such a strong community seen within this company.
If there is support needed within the Training Provider there are lecturers who we know could and would help us out.
The qualification we are working towards is relevant to the overall project we work on and gives us good overall knowledge in the general Electrical and Electronic field at a degree level and great Project Management Skills and Techniques.
There is a great social calendar throughout the year with one off socials or weekly sport teams. We can also take part in Stretch activities during working time which helps towards the company behaviours and networking.
Yes
Overall there is a great community, work relationships with colleagues and managers and extra activities. All of these benefits makes it a great company to do an apprenticeship with.
Just be yourself and show the enthusiasm you have to join the company. Make sure you apply quick as it can be competitive.
