My role involves going to customer sites 4 days a week shadowing with engineers to gain knowledge on the systems. I attend college one day a week to work towards my HNC.
Whilst being on site, I've learned how to use a wide range of tools, test equipment and software. College has taught me about welding, CAD, electronics, maths and communication.
Overall, I am enjoying the programme. Going on site and meeting customers gives a good taster of what life is like as a CSE.
Overall, I feel that the organisation of the programme is good. There was room for improvement in the first year of my apprenticeship, but it has definitely improved since then.
There is plenty of support for people who are struggling. Both the managers and engineers are happy to help if you have any problems.
Overall, the support we get from our training provider is good. Sometimes I feel that the tasks we get are not the easiest to understand, however, there are plenty of people that are happy to help if you have any issues.
The majority of the work I do for my training provider is based around my time on site. I don't necessarily feel that this helps me perform better in my role, but it does aid with organisation.
There are frequent meetings to discuss a wide range of topics that employees can attend if they are interested. These lots of different topics.
