  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I have a lot of responsibility and have my own case load within my role. I do a lot of drafting and liaising with the client. I also correspond with external solicitors to negotiate drafts.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt a lot since joining DWF. I have learnt how to refine my written communications skills but also my confidence has improved massively. I have done a lot of public speaking and presentations which is something I was so afraid of before I started the apprenticeship.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the programme, everyone is very approachable and friendly no matter what their job title it. The Early Careers team is amazing and has everyone best interests at heart.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The structure within DWF is very well organised we know when we will be moving seats and if something is unclear the Early Careers team is very happy to answer any queries we have. The training provider is a little less organised as it can be difficult to receive communication from them but there are structure being put in place to improve this.

  • I receive a lot of support from DWF from my line manager to my colleagues to the Early Careers team. Everyone is happy to answer any queries and put time in to go through things.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We have a skills coach where we receive 1-2-1 support which is very helpful and I always ensure to utilise this. However, sometimes it can feel like you are trying to figure things out yourself which can be disheartening.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It is not often that the work I am doing in university reflects the work I am doing in practice but when this does occur it helps immensely. It would be good if this could be aligned but I understand this is difficult due to how the business works.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are lots of things to get involved with from sports teams to celebrations. I am part of the netball team and recently took part in a tri-office tournament which was netball and football. There is also a monthly event held which free drinks, alcoholic and non. We also had an Eid celebration which was really good for everyone to come together.

  • 9a. Would you recommend DWF Law LLP to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I have already recommended DWF to my friends who are interested in pursuing law. It is an international firm that works with so many big clients but also doesn't come with the strict stigma that some firms do. Everyone is very friendly and everyone gets on well and I really enjoy working here.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to DWF Law LLP?
  • Showcase your skills, if you have an interesting hobby tell them about it. Everyone has gone through education but skills that you learn outside of education are personal to you.
