I am the deputy room leader within my setting where I am helping to run the baby room. I ensure the children are cared for, the staff are supported as well as being the health and safety officer: ensuring the nursery is safe for children and staff.
I have learnt new skills regarding leadership and how I can manage my room to become its very best as well as how to support my staff within my room. This allows me to understand how to effectively support staff, children and keep the room appropriate.
I always look forward to my sessions either as a 1:1 basis or an online session. My tutor has taught me so much new information to support my L5 as well as how to become confident within ourselves. She is a very lovely person, always supports with any struggles.
We had an initial date sheet confirming when our sessions would be which I found very useful because I could always be prepared for the day. There are a few occasions we run out of time however Alisha always ensures that everyone is happy and ready to move on.
I have received an excellent amount of support regarding my L5 because they are always happy to answer any questions in detail I may have as well as ensuring I have the time out to complete the sessions or any 20% I am entitled to.
Alisha has always supported me with my work which I may be stuck on. She will always answer any questions or emails I send over, supporting me with anything that I require some additional support with. I am very pleased with Alisha, very caring.
I think since learning new skills the past few months I have improved upon my practice as I have learnt so much which has been good to know which I have implemented into my practice to allow my staff to feel valued as well as the children becoming more positive.
At my setting we do not have any extra-curricular activities however I feel some of the staff within the room would benefit from this, myself included. I have regular catch ups with my manager/deputy which I find very positive where they always support my work and myself.
Yes
I have worked there for a while and I feel that there is a lot of care for the children and the staff. Each room has their own little quirks and the children are happy with the staff within the building. It's a very welcoming environment and the manager is always bubbly and happy, ready to introduce herself to anybody new.
Ensure you have a good experience background as this can help you to move into the different rooms. Have a bubbly personality and you will fit right in. Allow yourself to become more open and show your care for the children and support for staff.
