  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am the deputy room leader within my setting where I am helping to run the baby room. I ensure the children are cared for, the staff are supported as well as being the health and safety officer: ensuring the nursery is safe for children and staff.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I always look forward to my sessions either as a 1:1 basis or an online session. My tutor has taught me so much new information to support my L5 as well as how to become confident within ourselves. She is a very lovely person, always supports with any struggles.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • We had an initial date sheet confirming when our sessions would be which I found very useful because I could always be prepared for the day. There are a few occasions we run out of time however Alisha always ensures that everyone is happy and ready to move on.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think since learning new skills the past few months I have improved upon my practice as I have learnt so much which has been good to know which I have implemented into my practice to allow my staff to feel valued as well as the children becoming more positive.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • At my setting we do not have any extra-curricular activities however I feel some of the staff within the room would benefit from this, myself included. I have regular catch ups with my manager/deputy which I find very positive where they always support my work and myself.

  • 9a. Would you recommend My first friends to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I have worked there for a while and I feel that there is a lot of care for the children and the staff. Each room has their own little quirks and the children are happy with the staff within the building. It's a very welcoming environment and the manager is always bubbly and happy, ready to introduce herself to anybody new.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to My first friends?
  • Ensure you have a good experience background as this can help you to move into the different rooms. Have a bubbly personality and you will fit right in. Allow yourself to become more open and show your care for the children and support for staff.
