I welcome children in and see them out each day, Signing them in on both register and tablet. I communicate with the parents, asking how the child has been whether there is anything we need to know. I complete observations on the children and provide enriching activities, being sure to keep them safe. I prepare snack and serve foods, I get the children to sleep and assess sleep times, I change nappies and administer medicine if required, filling out accident forms. I assess if there are any safeguarding concerns and once a term complete progress summaries.
I have learnt more around how to communicate with parents and staff, getting my point across and being able to address any concerns with i may be facing. I feel more confident if i needed to complete a safeguarding form or was concerned around anything to do with the child and their wellbeing.
I do, i feel like i am able to learn whilst doing what i love to do. Making the children happy with my activities and using my imagination to make something enriching and inviting for the children to engage in. The staff are all willing to help if i needed support and are always making sure i am happy with the work.
Sometimes there are around 3/4 piece of work all due in at once so i feel like i sometimes have to rush to get them all done for around the same time, but i try and focus on one piece at a time to make sure it's as good as it should be. My manager always offers help if needed.
My manager and deputy manager will always offer help around the work if needed as regularly check that i am getting on okay with it and not struggling. When possible they will get me out of the room so i can work in the office getting some work done, or even covering in other rooms to gain knowledge around working with different age ranges.
Even though i don't speak to my training provider often, i know that if i was struggling with a piece of work that they would be there to support me with it and help to understand. I have needed to do this a few times but as my work place are so helpful this isn't always needed.
I feel more confident within myself and feel that i can take on new tasks which may have worried me in the past to have to do. I feel i can question if i don't think something is right, where as beforehand i may have just mentioned something to my manager, i feel confident enough to question it within the room.
We hold a phonics class for the younger children where we look at sound recognition but in terms of staff activities, there are training courses provided and online learning. The older children have a sports group and a French class, where the staff can learn whilst the children are and use this knowledge to teach them when the class isn't on.

They care about each person and make sure that you are getting the most from each day as well as the children. They support you in following up with plans and activity ideas which you may have, even if these seem to be a little crazy sometimes. They will make sure policies are followed and everyone is safeguarded whilst allowing you to have fun and explore.
To take the leap and look into childcare. it is extremely rewarding and so much fun each day, no two days are ever the same. they allow you to be yourself and express your own interests through play for the children. everyone is so friendly and helpful and you will always feel welcomed and valued.
