  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I am continuously learning and developing new and existing skills including the hard skills required for the role such as certain software competencies and other job requirements. I also have built up soft skills such as Team player, confidence, communication, presentation skills, and even more.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the workplace and I have had the opportunity to complete lots of placements in different areas to get wider business knowledge. I have a diverse workload which keeps each day interesting and I am constantly able to push myself and learn. I don't enjoy the University learning so much as I am more of a practical learner so this is quite a challenge for me at times.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is very well structured with the right balance of workplace responsibility while still allowing me to continuously learn. However there has been some times at university where they expect things from us which don't seem to consider the fact we are working too (i.e. availability) and sometimes the commuting distance for support sessions for some of us.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer is extremely supportive. They provide lots of opportunities for me to take on extra responsibilities, pick up new skills, complete placements and carry out other training. They are flexible in allowing me to take more time when I need it for completing assignments too.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Warwick University are supportive and provide extra sessions and materials. However, I believe they can make some improvements as sometimes they put sessions in when they are not feasible to attend or they don't give us enough advance notice sometimes so there are definitely improvements to be made.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My qualification has helped me enhance my knowledge and broaden it in areas I would not particularly come across otherwise. However, as I am more of a practical learner, I prefer and find it easier to learn on the job so I feel my learning it better in the role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I am part of the Early Careers Committee, where we support activities for early careers colleagues and work with HR to keep improving the programmes. I am part of the 'Be-networks' which allows me to meet colleagues from all around the business and discuss topics such as gender balance and health and wellbeing. We also have a social section which organises activities outside of work for Early Careers.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Bentley Motors to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Bentley is an extremely diverse, inviting and supportive workplace. They are well structured at helping apprentices settle into the workplace and the role and they give a suitable level of responsibility for an apprentice. They challenge but do not overwhelm and have lots of support and extra benefits to the role.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Bentley Motors?
  • Sell yourself, don't be afraid to highlight your skills. Find what makes you stand out. Try and carry out some work experience in an industry (it doesn't necessarily need to be automotive). Get involved in extra curricular at school/colleague and highlight what skills it has helped to develop. Do your research and show you know about the company and the companies strategy and plans.
