  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role involves daily interactions with the other members of my team. We manage data quality across finance and this involves performing daily checks on logged issues and interactions with the wider team to discuss remediation actions and get updates on action progress. We have been developing a new dashboard to better monitor our key measures.

  • I’ve developed loads of existing skills as well as learning a ton of new ones. Most of them software based. I’m now using things like Power BI and SQL on a regular basis.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I love it! My workplace is a fantastic environment, my colleagues are ace, they are all very supportive and nurturing in their approach to working with an apprentice. I also feel like there will be some fantastic opportunity to progress at the end of the program.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Really good. The only uncertainties at the moment are exactly what the end of the program looks like and how progression works, but they are minor details that will almost certainly work themselves out in a few months time.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • As much as I need. My line manager supports me really well as well as having another member of my team as a one-to-one mentor. Getting time for my off the job training is generally fairly straightforward as well.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • On the whole, it works really well. The only minor challenge is working for such a large organisation. It just means you have to go looking for some of the opportunities in the workplace to support the learning.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • As an organisation, we really excel here. There are loads and loads of opportunities to get involved in things. I’ve personally been involved in quite a few of the opportunities to support new apprentices, I’m always keen to talk about my experiences.
