  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • As an apprentice, I support and get involved with work within the team. Work is varied depending on which team you are working in. The rotational aspect enables you to see different parts of the business. 20% of my working week (1 day a week) is my university study day.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I am really enjoying my degree apprenticeship experience and feel very supported by both the next gen team at Visa and university. I am getting invaluable experience in the workplace as well as being able to apply my experience to my university study.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is structured in 5 x 6 month rotations and then 1 x 18 month rotation. The first two rotations (first year) is chosen for us, which are designed to give us experience in teams that interact with other parts of Visa to introduce us to the organisation.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Especially when we first started in September, there was a lot of interaction, training and check ins with the next gen team. There are also regular check ins put in our diaries to catch up as a group or a 1-2-1 with the next gen apprentice lead.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I feel I receive a lot of support from Corndel. Although it’s online based, I have a monthly 1-2-1 with my PDE and a progress review with my work manager and Corndel PDE every 12 weeks. Also, we have 3 workshops per 8 week module which enables us to interact with others on the programme from other organisations.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that my university learning is adaptable to my role at work. I also utilise my work experience at Visa to support my university work. Therefore I feel that the way the degree apprenticeship works is beneficial and adaptable for me. We answer questions each week with our university learning content, enabling us to apply the learning directly to our experience at work.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are ERG’s for different employee groups. (E.g. women in business, VIABLE, carers etc) and a lot of charity events and volunteering opportunities that you can sign up to do in working hours.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Visa to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I really enjoy working for Visa and definitely recommend the Chartered Management Degree Apprenticeship programme. as well as the programme at Visa offering a competitive salary and a range of company benefits, the practical experience of the programme is invaluable. I am really enjoying my time on the programme and have developed massively in confidence in the short time I have been at Visa. 6 month rotations go so quickly but you learn so much through maximising your time in the team and learning and networking with others in the departments which is what I strongly encourage others to do to make the most of the opportunities they are given as an apprentice at Visa.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Visa?
  • My biggest piece of advice to others applying to Visa is to be your complete authentic self. Researching what we actually do at Visa is particularly important throughout the whole application process and particularly thinking about what you can bring to Visa, and how your skills interlink with the company.
