overseeing the works of complete road works. as of current, my role involves a mix of office / site work, working from a HS2 office, working for many different tasks to aid my progression and knowledge. tracking costs, ordering materials, helping the gang and much more.
i have developed general groundwork skills such as shovelling. i have learnt how to measure roads, and calculate tonnages. general communication skills improved.
job is very enjoyable and rewarding, however can be hard in early, cold mornings. when out on site, it is always good fun, however the weather can determine your mood, and early starts may leave you tired.
our program is, for the most part, completely organised, accurate and understandable. things are usually in place for when you need them, and its rare you can arrive to the wrong location.
my employer provides some support, and is very easy to talk to in need of help. sometimes it feels as though some daily tasks can be provided better to improve my progress.
qualifications are all paid for, and allowed appropriate time to focus on studdies.
growth in knowledge for general construction supervision. while my training course is sometimes not relevant to the job role, the application of some learnings is present.
an array of activities to get involved in within my company. coffee mornings are common and the use of employee committees helps link together and fuel social events. conferences provided at different times of the year, which are great networking events.
