Assistant Relationship Manager Review

I am an Assistant Relationship Manager/ Account Executive for invoice finance, it incorperates numerous tasks dealing with risks of a business, growing a business, and supporting the Relationship Manager. It means being the front line individual for the business' we support with telephone email and customer facing interaction surrounding it. In terms of projects I am part of the peoples board and am responsible for Health and Wellbeing at work in SE and London.

It would be hard to list just how many new skills i have developed since starting at RBS. School and college are a complete contrast. You learn so much by acctually being on the job that you pick things up as you go along and develop skills personally and in a business sense.

Its fantastic. One of the best opportunities I have been given in life. To be able to still have a professional job without the financial stress of Uni is unbelievable and in reality I will be in a much better position than those who leave university in 3 years time looking for work. I will be in a respectable Job higher up the food chain with more business wealth about me, which I already understand is key and worth more than just a degree.

Extremely valued, not just by my line manager but by the executives of the company. Its extraordianry how much effort the management board is putting into our programme giving up their time to talk to us, makes me feel so lucky and valued. The door is always open to speak to someone if need be from the person sat opposite you to the person on the top floor of the London office. RBS has so many oppurtunites its truely fantastic.

A lot of effort has gone into the programme as its the first year and that really shows through. There is so much clarity especially from BPP on how the Apprenticeship will work for each individual on the programme.

My tutor is always avaliable if I need to speak to him, however I am currently finding that there is already enough resources avaliable to us that I havent had to use this median just yet. Even stil I meet with him every 4-8 weeks to discuss my progress going forward.

The support is there if you need it, at times it is hard to keep pestering them at the begining of your training, and you sort of feel embarassed to keep asking these questions which to other employee's seem easy, but its expected by your line manager to have these questions and so there is no real need to worry. However in my particular case I feel like my line manager was expecting me to know a lot more about IF than I did as a school leaver. This will hopefully be worked on and is of course down to individuals.

Its outstanding , not only do you get a high wage especially in comparisson to how low an apprenticeship can be. RBS has a reward policy which gives you an extra 25% on top of your salary to pay for things like pension, car, phone, computer, life insurance through plans or to simply take it as cash.

There are lots of interactional groups avaliable to RBS employees but i havent been made that aware of them just yet. Any events i do attend out of work hours are arranged by us as individuals.

I've just felt so lucky throughout this experience to be here. It really is worthwhile to get your foot in the door at a great company like this, with a rising future. I truly believe i am in a better place than those eroding themselves in debt to come out and compete with everyone else with the same qualification vs people like myself with 3 years of experience.

Remember that if you do go a career here, you get out as much as you put in. RBS is full of oppurtunites for those who work hard. You can go wherever you want in the business if you focus on doing so. Our own CEO in CBD worked his way up through hard work and no degree, so why cant you or I?
