  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Currently I am working in PSL No.4 making plant. On a day to day basis I work my way through tags and PMs that I have planned for the week. It is my role to ensure the plant runs well and safely.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes, I am currently trying to develop my understanding of the process control systems. Both DeltaV and Rosemount RS3 are used to automate the process operations within the plant. Understanding how these systems operate is a key part to my role as we rely on them to run the plant.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I love working in the plant as everyday is completely different; there are so many different systems and machines that need maintaining. I enjoy trying to understand exactly how each system operates and how they all interact.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The first two years have been very organised. However, now that I am approaching my EPA I feel slightly un-prepared for it. I have not had much discussion with my assessor on what needs to be done prior to my EPA

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Any support I need I receive

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have my reviews every 3 or so months. As mentioned I will be starting my EPA soon and I haven't had much contact relating to it. I feel that we could maybe prepare a lot sooner for the EPA, as the last few months have been wasted not preparing.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The majority of the units that we covered at the AMRC can be applied to my day to day roles.

  • Yes but I haven't seen any so far that have interested me
