Looking after a team of 5 completing book keeping, VAT returns, management accounts and reconciliations up to trial balance. Onboarding new clients, implementing processes and ensuring that all members of the team are exposed to each element of this work to improve KSB's.
Yes, improved with communication, understanding individuals and how to react to certain situations in the workplace. Working in practice allows exposure to a lot of industries, all of which do things in slightly different ways so being able to adapt quickly is key.
The programme doesn't really cater for people that work in full time jobs with a lot of responsibility. Some of the additional tasks that need to be completed really are an impediment to the time that I should be spending doing revision for exams. It really does frustrate me.
The use of onefile helps with knowing what to do and what not to do however as mentioned, the work involved to tick some boxes really depresses me when i'm having to do it knowing that i would rather be revising for upcoming exams.
A lot, whenever I ask to learn new things the directors and other team members across the practice will find the time to show me things that I want to learn. They will offer their support in checking my work or making suggestions as to what the next step should be that I take towards an internal issue or customer query.
I use them for their tuition and revision sessions so they provide me with all of the materials that I need to help progress with my exams. They will also occasionally provide sheets to tell us what areas of our KSBs we have improved.
For someone that has been working for about 9 years now, it feels like the programme is designed for school leavers discussing how to improve their soft skills something which I have been working on for 9 years. Whilst i understand there is always room for improvement, as I mentioned it feels like it does not cater to people with far more responsibility that what a school leaver would have.
Occasionally, we have attended quiz nights, charity events etc
Yes
Their tuition, revision and material is really good & allows you to learn what you need for exams. I would not recommend the apprenticeship scheme though
For a school leaver, the apprenticeship scheme will be good. For those that are not school leavers, the courses should be funded another way otherwise it will impact your job and revision and subsequently your results.
