  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role currently is to assist on all areas on the shop floor (eg. unloading deliveries, maintaining a good level of stock on the shelves & operating the tills) as well as assisting my team throughout the day to ensure we give customers the best experience possible in store.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • So far, I have learnt many new skills- cashing up at the end of each day & week being one of the main skills I have gained.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I believe I’ve settled in quite quickly, and I think this is partly because everything was made so clear to me before & as I joined (eg. How to use my 2 hours of training each week) which has made things a lot easier for me to just get on with.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I think my programme is quite well structured. I get 2 hours a week during my working hours to complete any training or work on vault, which helps me a lot. I also have a check list of things I need to learn or practice which the store manager goes through with me at the end of each working day, which helps me to understand how I’m doing, and what my next steps are.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive quite a bit of support from both the store manager & my assessor. My assessor has made it clear I should not hesitate to ask her any questions, and she will always reach out to me if I’ve missed anything or got anything coming up. The store manager has also made it clear I should not hesitate to ask any questions, and he allows me to get lots of practice of anything I’m unsure of.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I think again, my checklist of things I should know is very useful as I can see what I need to learn or improve next, and my 2 hours of training helps me lots as I’m able to learn about different procedures, policies, etc, as well as progress through my vault work set by my assessor.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think the tasks and training I complete each week (which helps me work towards my qualification) makes me feel a lot more confident daily as I can learn and understand things that I perhaps didn’t before, and things that I can actually use daily on the shop floor to help me provide great service, etc.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I’ve been informed that there may be some days where I will need to attend workshops

  • 9a. Would you recommend Superdrug to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Superdrug have really welcomed me and so far I’m really enjoying the apprenticeship. Everything seems very organised and thorough which I like as I’m never stood around wondering what to do with my day.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Superdrug?
  • It’s not as scary as it seems!
