I am a kitchen and bathroom Advisor so I welcome customers into our showroom and book them in to see a Design Consultant for a Kitchen or Bathroom design. I am on the Apprenticeship to hopefully become a DC.
I have learnt lots of skills including: advanced design, how to complete an installation survey and installation, further product knowledge and lots more.
I do enjoy my programme most of the time, sometimes it does get stressful especially if I don’t fully understand one of the tasks.
I would that it could be a little more structured. I join in June 2023 and I know that since then the apprenticeship program has changed a lot so my coach is having to teach several different groups in two different ways.
It was a struggle at first for certain managers to get on board with me being in the showroom and doing the apprenticeship. I used to work on the shop floor before I was offered a role in the showroom.
My apprenticeship coach Zoe simper has been very supportive during my apprenticeship and has always encouraged me to push myself towards my goals.
I have learnt so much during the apprenticeship which has boosted my performance as a KBA. I can now also sit down with customers and design them a Kitchen based on their measurements- I then book them in with a design consultant to sell the project and so far this has gone really well and every one I have started has sold.
I have been to a few events so far, I went to the Lighthouse event in Leicester in 2023 and I attended the Ashford reopening and supplier event.

I think Wickes is a great company to work for and is focused on helping people progress in their careers.
Be confident in yourself and get involved where you can, don’t be afraid to voice your opinion or ideas.
