  • Case Worker, I work for the Department of Work and Pensions in the Child Maintenance Service, I work on cases both assigned to me by my team leader and answer calls from the general public.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I am learning to manage my time and learning new systems, I have worked in telephony before and also am an advanced computer user so some of it came naturally but some was very complex

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The Programme is enjoyable so far but as I have only just started I do not have much experience to draw on

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is very well organised as it fits in with my day to day job and interacts with it to a degree

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my employer and am very grateful for it, I wouldn't have got as far as I have without it

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • As of yet I have not really experienced much of this as my 1st real session s haven't really begun, however my trainer always has responded quickly to any emails I've sent and I have no complaints in this area

  • I really couldn't say at this point as I am very new to the apprenticeship and still learning a lot in my job role

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes but I haven't really involved myself in any of them

  • Yes

  • It is a fun place to work and most everyone is very friendly


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Department for Work and Pensions?
  • Persevere, its worth it in the end but it's a lot of hard work
