  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role within our Markets Reconciliation team involves reconciling our internal accounts for the Commercial market business. This is to verify the accuracy of what comes in and out of our accounts. I deal a lot with the flow leading side of things, ensuring smooth work flow, investigating any incidents with feeds and ensuring training is up to date and daily work is complete.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I learnt many skills from the apprenticeship, such as people skills, leadership skills and focus. The apprenticeship has helped me identify area's of weakness in which I was able to improve in and also area's that I personally wanted to grow in. I touched on unit's that covered leadership and management and as this is a big focus for me, I was able to discover which type of leader I am and the steps that I need to take in order to progress.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoyed the majority of the programme, I think it really helped having a coach who was approachable and reliable. My coach also made things fun and made me want to move forward. I think the biggest thing I took away from the apprenticeship was a better understanding of which type of worker I am, It helped me understand that stepping back, focussing and overviewing are massively important.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Again, my coach really made the structure easy for me, she understood that I had a full time job on top of the apprenticeship therefore I never felt pressured to complete units. The regular check-ins were great and I always had the opportunity to reach out if I was ever struggling. The correct amount of work was always assigned making it stress free and enjoyable to learn

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My coach was amazing! There was regular check ins booked in and she always made it clear that she was always around if I needed to get in touch, Some days were there was unexpected spikes in work loads my coach has no problem re-arranging out check ins. The support was excellent and definitely helped push me through.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It certainly helps me step back in situations, I always think reading/writing things is much different from actually living it! However, when there was moments of difficulty I was able to look back at certain units and put them into practice. I think being able to break down Meta-skills and understand when to use them is a great tool that everyone should look at.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • LBG are forever doing activities for their colleagues and what is even better is they consider inclusivity. They consider all aspects therefore there are opportunities to do things during working hours and after work. We have a dedicated team who strive to make the office a better place, by bringing in games/social events such as - Meeting for lunch/coffee sessions. They organise sports events, ART classes, Massages for health and wellbeing - there is also something available.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Lloyds Banking Group to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • They are a great company, who care. They offer more than just a job, the career opportunities are endless and they support colleagues to go in which ever direction they want within the company

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Lloyds Banking Group?
  • Be you! Allow yourself to shine through on the application, although we all need to be professional, LBG LOVE to see personalities shine through. I think when applying and you are giving examples of experiences always use the STAR template as this allows the employer to get a better understanding. It makes an application much stronger.
