  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Currently, I am working towards assisting the sourcing department with monthly reports. I also assist with loading test drives for customers onto our fleet system. In-between those roles i assist colleagues within my department, such as saving them time by making a spreadsheet or altering our systems for them. I also ensure to take some time to study and write for my university assignments.

  • Since starting I have learnt an incredible amount of skills and behaviours. On top of learning the skills necessary for my job, such as being familiar with programs, I have also seen great improvement in the social skills associated with the professional working environment.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I am a big fan of the fact that the approach of my apprenticeship is unstructured whilst remaining organised. Between myself and my managers consistent communication, we are able to keep my work load both entertaining and relevant to what I am currently studying in university.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive an incredible amount of support from my employer and from within my team. From the first day I felt comfortable whilst being new to everything as the environment I work in allows for questions to be asked without judgment. I have confidence that any question my manager is not able to answer, he would direct me in the correct direction of who to ask and ensure I am never left confused.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive a great amount of support. For each assignment we start we have two days on campus to meet with our lecturer and have any immediate questions asked. Whilst the assignment is set we are also given plenty of additional learning resources and are able to email whichever lecturer for any additional support.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Due to the “supply chain management” course I am currently doing being a broad topic of study, of which i have only been doing for less that 12 months it means that as of yet not every single assignment is relevant to my role in the office. However, I thoroughly believe that my qualification will give me a extensive perspective of supply chains, and each assignment we cover will add and benefit me in my role, despite if it is directly relevant or not.

  • 9b. Why?
  • Due to the wonderful experience I have had in my first months of working in BMW, i would certainly recommend a friend to work here as there has been no times i felt undervalued or lost.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group?
  • To be genuine at all times. whether it be in the interviews where you need to be able to show a clear and truthful picture of yourself, or when you’re unclear what is being discussed in a meeting and need to ask for clarification; just being yourself and asking about things when they are not clear will make working a lot easier for you.
