Yes I have learned several new skills relating to clinical examination, I have developed my leadership skills and started to undertake research.
I enjoy both the practical and theoretical aspects of the programme in both the work place and at university.
The programme is extremely well structured, we are given time tables well in advance with both theoretical and practical aspects well mapped and defined.
Kumar Family Practice offer a high level of support and mentorship, they are approachable, knowledgeable and provide excellent learning opportunities and the chance to expand and improve my skills.
We have 3 monthly meetings to discuss my progress and offer support, they are accessible via email at all times for any queries I have. We have dedicated skills coaches that offer support on a regular basis. We always have contact details for the various module leads and are offered routes to contact them via email, face to face etc
It gives me the opportunity to expand my scope of practice, I have been given opportunities I would otherwise have been unable to access. I have learned skills that in my role as a nurse are otherwise unobtainable. I have been able to improve my performance as a result of the new skills I have learnt.
Yes, we regularly undertake teambuilding exercises. We are offered the opportunity to take part in group charity days such as fun runs at the expense of the company. We partake in monthly competitions such as walking challenges to improve staff wellbeing. We have experiences set up, recently we had a masseuse offer us hand massages for staff wellbeing. We also recently attended the nursing times student awards as we were nominated for an award for best community placement.
Yes
There is a strong team/ family ethos, the team is welcoming, supportive and there are links with several services that make the learning opportunities vast and resourceful.
Be honest and open about your skills, knowledge and what you want to achieve within primary care. Take the time to look through the website, there are honest accounts of each clinician, their skills and their personality. Ask to look around the practice prior to interview, take the time to get to know the team and see if they suit the type of professional environment you'd like to work in.
