Rotational programme supporting teams for 8 months periods. First rotation in PAM (property asset management) Retail, managing a portfolio of retail sites (parks and shopping centres). Currently sat in CPO Team (compulsory purchase order), with both acquiring bodies, and on compensation claims for affected partoes.
Yes, technical skills on excel, Argus Developer; report writing and project delivery; soft skills in client engagement and stakeholder management. In PAM time management was essential- the volume of communications needed close attention and prioritisation. In CPO, I am completing more long term projects, researching and pulling together reports.
Enjoy the variation, the rotation allows for exposure to different clients, projects, and aspects of the real estate industry. The extra curricular aspects of the scheme is good also- talks, initiatives, volunteering and tema sports contribute to this.
Well- the early careers team are available and responsive. 8 month (moving towards 6 month rotations) allow for variation. The 6 month rotation change is good in my opinion- allows for full availability of seats.
Good amount- allowances are made for university work and professional qualification development. Clear support offered through the grad scheme.
UCEM have counsellors who we meet with c. every 10 weeks, who ensure our various diaries are up to date and correct.
Good to learn about the theory behind the day job, principles which govern the real estate industry (Market forces, law, governing bodies, valuations etc.) even if not directly relevant to a certain rotational role, understanding the wider context and bigger picture.
Yes, early careers student team organise these and JLL have very good provision of clubs and acitivies. Could be more organised with other big firms.
Yes
All as above- size of company gives opportunities throughout, diverse employees, forward thinking firm.
Learn about company and one role you might be interested in, to speak about confidently, that can be worked into interview answers. Reflect on experience and how it might suit the job, especially in not in real estate (I had minimal CRE experience.)
