  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • During my apprenticeship I have gained so many new skills in the fields of technical work, control engineering and IT Engineering. The most recent being IT-Engineering due to my new job role. I have built so many skills up by self learning and 1-1 training with colleagues in my department. I have also spent lots of time specing and building new computers as well as lots of communication and presentation skills.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My Programme is very well structured, I have day release where I study at the University of Chichester, however, if I need more time to study then I can have this with a local agreement with my manager. We have regular catchup's with the other apprenticeships as well as the training team here at Rolls-Royce.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive endless amounts of support from Rolls Royce. Whether that is on the job training or training courses externally. on the other hand we also have support from the apprentice training team which has recently expanded, they can help us with any other issues we may have with university or any other topics.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The support received from my training provider is great. We have revision sessions which prepare us for our exams. We also have time in our lectures to complete coursework as they understand that us Degree Apprentices work full time. There is also extra support available such as mentally from the University.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • This is the only topic that I cannot praise Rolls Royce on. When I started my apprenticeship the role was not what it was sold as, so the qualification that went with it did not match. I am doing IT and Control Engineering but studying a mechanical engineering degree at university.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes there is loads of extra activities to get involved in such as the apprentice newsletter, the network, other network groups and lots of sports events to socialise and network with colleagues.. As well a social events with interns and other apprentices. Finally, there is apprentice work days every year where we get to meet the new apprentices that have started.

  • 9a. Would you recommend BMW Group to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I feel over the last few years Rolls Royce Apprenticeships has grown a lot and got a lot better, and this only continues. I would recommend Rolls Royce to anyone, as long as the job role is advertised correctly and the individual knows what job they are getting into. It is a great place to work and I really enjoy working here.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group?
  • Always be yourself, interviewers can tell when someone is being fake or trying to hard, if you just be yourself then people will see the true value you have got. Make sure you do your research on the role you are applying for and see if you can provide evidence that you are passionate in that role.
