  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Day to day I spend doing various placements around the plant. For example, i am currently in a production area where i spend my day learning the roles of the associates and then working on production to build the cars.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt skills on production but feel as though i would have learned the same if not more having joined the company as an employee. The apprenticeship course i found to be a level bellow where i am educationally so it was un challenging and unhelpful.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • My programmed was finished in october due to the course being so easy. I am now at the plant full time so it is hard to comment.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programmed was finished very early. We were not told what we would be doing clearly at the start and had to essentially teach ourselves. We were then rushed to finish the course which we then finished early and were sent into work full time.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer provides me with very little support. I am usually only spoken to if other apprentices are misbehaving and they want to tell us all off. I have not been asked about what direction i would like to take in the company nor been given any chance to find out. There are a few people who have stepped up to help me and i am thankful to them but its not there job to do so and the people whos job it is do not offer support to me.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider offered me a fair amount of support. The structure was not well done but the people were very nice and did what they could with the information they did have. Some were exceptional in helping us get through with what we needed to do.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I have struggled to find anywhere my course has helped me at my workplace. There has only been one part of the training i found relevant in a very minor way.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are many extra-curricular activates set up by the apprentices themselves and they are very enjoyable for everyone to participate in if they would like to.

  • 9a. Would you recommend BMW Group to a friend?
  • No

  • 9b. Why?
  • From a worker stand point i think it can be a nice place to work. However, as an apprentice i have not had a positive experience and would not recommend them to join, atleast in an apprentice capacity.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group?
  • I would say to ask the hiring managers about the courses relation to the job role whilst in their interview. This should mean they have an understanding if the apprenticeship qualification is useful and something they can look forward too.
