In my home department I would start the day with a team Gemba walk, then I would work on various different supply chain projects given to me. Lots of these would include digitalisation including the following softwares: excel, powerbi and QuickSight. These help to mke sure that the production line runs smoothly.
I have developed my skills on Digitalisation, this includes the following systems: excel and PowerBi. I have developed these skills through various different shadowing and training, these being the data analytics L2 and L3 course. I have also developed my video editing skills through the use of the Camtasia app.
I really enjoy my apprenticeship programme as I feel like i have learned loads about the world of Rolls-Royce and the manufacturing industry. I have also learned loads of new skills whilst working at Rolls-Royce, which have helped within my job role. Overall I feel like it is one of the best decisions I have ever made.
Towards the start of the course I think it was fairly unstructured as we were the first year to do the 3 month craft skills with chichester college. However as the programme has progressed further it has become more structured as there has been more involvement with our home department.
I receive lots of support from Rolls-Royce, this is because I have various different managers to report to, this includes my apprentice manager, my home department manager and my placement managers. If I ever have a query then I always know that there's various different people I can go to.
When completing my course I would receive lots of support from the training provider, this was through various different meeting, for example i had a monthly meeting to check my progress and answer any queries or questions that I had. I also had regular email check ins to help with assignments.
I feel like quite a lot of the course was relevant to my role and i could transfer my skills into my day to day working life, however on the other hand there were also some areas that didn't have any relevance purely because of my position within the company.
yes i am involved in the rolls-royce football event that occurs every wednesday, I also know about future talent nights out that occur roughly every couple of months. Theres also various different team building events that I have been in during my time in different departments, for example a christmas team dinner.
Yes
It is a great experience, especially for anyone joining at the same age that I did as it allows you to improve on your education, whilst also working a full time. The pay is also very good. Finally whilst working here i have gained lots of skills and knowledge around areas that I enjoy within the business.
Make sure that when applying you research into the company and try being unique during your application process. Try and gain some experience within the area that you are applying for before you go for it as this will help you during the process. Finally
