I am a rework apprentice whos role is to rework any faults on vehicles before it goes to the customer, currently on a day-to-day basis i am on placements so i can learn and experience a range of different departments and further develop my knowledge and understanding of the business as a whole.
I have learnt many new skills in many different subjects ranging from engine build in college craft skills to developing excel skills in placement departments. i have learnt how to rework different parts of motor vehicle trim parts and also cascade test for software topics. skills of communication and network to learn off more associates and increase my opportunities.
i thoroughly enjoy my program due to how much i can and have experienced. the exposure to different topics and parts of production, quality and analysis have kept my work interesting exciting and again, enjoyable. with regards to my thatcham course is also a nice balance with it being more practical work and getting more involved with mechanical maintenance.
Programme is organised, set dates for thatcham block, no confusion and layed out well
support is there when needed, any topics that i need help both apprentice advisor from rolls-royce and learning coach from thatcham are accessible at all times and extremely helpful
Plenty of support especially when at thatcham due to the link between the workshop and rolls royce factory being a different environment but are encouraged to learn and helped when needed.
Hard to relate to my role due to doing placements but overall helps with a deeper understanding of my role in my home department to a certain extent.
Apprentice social events are organised such as pub quiz, bingo karaoke evenings. also football tournaments and other extra curricular activities
Yes
due to the experience you get in many different aspects, the opportunity to explore where you want to go and which subjects of work youd like to work towards.
Be yourself, confident, and be able to work hard not only as an individual but also in a team.
