  • I work in the Material and Process analysis team, investigating quality issues and using a combination of chemistry and metallurgy-based techniques to help monitor and solve these problems.

  • This role has taught me a variety of skills, mostly involving my social and team-based skills. It has also improved my independence and organisational skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have immensely enjoyed the programme. Combining a Manufacturing Engineering degree with a laboratory environment has been very interesting and always brings new, and exciting problems to tackle.

  • The programme is well structured, with an apprentice manager ensuring that my placements around the plant are beneficial for me in my final job role.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer sends me plenty of support, with my placement manager always checking that I am happy with the workload alongside the uni work.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The training provider has been great with support. Any time I've had a query with anything related to my uni course, I have received a timely and helpful response.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The work experience and university studies complement each other very well. I gain a deeper understanding of the content of my course from the experience I gain at work, whilst many of the practices used at work I am already aware of due to the education and training on this programme.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are plenty of opportunities to get involved in sports and social activities. Football is organised on a weekly basis, where anyone can get involved.

  • Yes

  • BMW Group provide a well-structured programme alongside a supportive environment that helps apprentices develop their skills and confidence.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group?
  • Be patient with the application process as it can be lengthy. Understand what makes you passionate to work for a company like BMW Group and really communicate that throughout the process.
