As a Store Assistant, I have to ensure that the shop floor is fully stocked and clean ready for customers in the morning, interact with customers to a high standard & also handle money accurately on my till.
I feel as though I have grown to be a lot more confident around new people such as interacting with the customers & I also feel that my team skills have been greatly improved upon.
I enjoy 90% of my programme. I love interacting with the public the most, but a close second is working with my co-workers. It's more of a family environment rather than a workplace which I find great.
I find that the company/my co-workers really do care about how I am doing in all aspects and are willing to help me improve. I feel as though any time something is done well I am quick to receive the feedback which is great.
The programme is very organised in the fact that you always know what is going on. Managers very clearly give everyone tasks and you have to do them. There isn't a grey area.
I have had a lot of support from the college I am working with. I have been assigned one lady & she has been giving me more than enough support to get me through the course.
I have received ample support from my managers. In fact I feel really lucky about it. I have had things going on and the managers have all been very understanding and willing to help me out.
At the moment its just about okay, but as far as apprenticeships go its pretty good, however it can be tricky at times. By the end I will be absolutely dandy though.
There's a lot of invitations out from co-workers but I haven't been to any company events. I do know that everyone seems to go to the gym with each other though.
Yes
I find it really satisfying to be given a job with a target time and beating it, or having a lovely conversation with a customer whilst I am serving them. It's the little things that really help you enjoy work.
Be confident, do your research and show that you do want the job. Also, any interest in retail is really useful as you will need to be interacting with customers and learning how to react in a retail environment.
