I work as a shift Engineer supporting the UMAP team covering cold stores. mix departments, steam and ammonia systems. working in support of the department technicians. The role involves working shifts. 2 days and 2 nights.
Throughout the apprenticeship I have continued to develop my skills and more importantly gained experience and confidence in tackling many varied breakdowns and repairs. The role covers such a vast area and different machinery and control systems that I am lucky to see varied tasks on a daily basis.
The programme provided me with a level of learning that as a mature apprentice was challenging but also very enjoyable as the training at the AMRC and the support throughout my learning has been first class.
The structure of the programme was well balanced and provided a good social, work and learning balance. Both studying in Sheffield and working on site to support my knowledge, skills and behaviours.
The support is always available and I never feel that I am without support either at work or at the AMRC. I can reach out to my apprentice coach, department managers and technicians should I need support.
The training provider is always available if I need support or further assistance with my apprenticeship.
I have learnt many new skills while on the apprenticeship and the confidence gained to confidently complete repairs and overhauls of the plant. The qualification gives me the confidence that I have met the criteria to carry out my tasks.
The company provides a gym and has a golf society club. The company gets involved with all local charities and supports all activities that you can volunteer for.
Yes
The level of learning and the opportunity to further your skills. The opportunity to further your skills beyond your apprenticeship learning.
The only advice I would give is always be willing to learn and to support the business at every level. Have a positive attitude to the changes and the demands of production
