  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • A varied, bespoke apprenticeship which gives opportunity to explore the vast scope of HR and Change at TfL. Day to day, you will be given responsibility for tasks depending on the placement you sit in at the time. The apprentice decides how much they want to be challenged.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have picked up a multitude of skills throughout my apprenticeship due to the many teams within HR and Change at TfL I had the opportunity to be placed with. I have grown in confidence massively.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoyed my programme immensely and will always be an advocate for TfL apprenticeships moving forward. I would not be the person I am today without TfL.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is organised and structured very clearly, with considerable support from day one. By the end of my apprenticeship, I had spent time in 9 teams which gave me the opportunity to build my networks.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I received support throughout and it was very clear who I should go to for certain queries. At the beginning of the apprenticeship, I was given a sponsor, who acted as a line manager for the apprenticeship. Everyone has their own sponsor, and I still have a very good relationship with mine, even after rolling off into a permanent job.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are many extra-curricular activities - station training, work socials, apprenticeship committees, site visits, external networking events, mentoring opportunities, staff networking groups.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Transport for London to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Without a doubt, I would not be who I am today without my apprenticeship. Tfl has been such a safe place to learn and I have been able to grow in confidence astronomically. If you ever get the chance to do an apprenticeship, TfL is a wonderful, solid, interesting option.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Transport for London?
  • Know why you want to apply and the impact you want to make. Enthusiasm and being willing to learn, putting yourself out of your comfort zone gets you really far. Good luck!
