Training to be a Bus driver. Our role involves safely transporting people to their chosen destination.
I am learning to handle and drive large vehicles on the road. The apprenticeship helps us learn more in depth customer service skills and helps us to understand the behind the scenes processes involved in running the depot, not just us driving one bus.
I am really enjoying learning new skills and excited to see how far I can go in the future.
The apprenticeship is well organised with Onefile which helps you easily keep track of your progress. There are different aspects such as the learner journal, question banks to test you knowledge and understanding and also day courses which are well presented.
My instructors and management team are extremely supportive and encouraging. They will help you find ways around any problems and will always address any concerns you may have.
Mark at Realise is available on the phone or by email and is ready to answer any queries or questions I may have and is always prompt to reply with a helpful and informative answer. He gives great feedback on your work and is very encouraging.
It gives a much greater understanding of the role, it's so much more than just driving! It's all about understanding the customer service and support we need to be able to provide not just control the vehicle.
There are football teams within the company that you can get involved in if you want to and the company runs "trade-up" events to help you find out how to adapt your role or change roles/departments within the company.
Yes
It's a great job, you get to meet new and interesting people daily and you are well supported throughout the intensive training they provide.
Go for it - it's a new challenge, a new adventure and you will enjoy it!
