I work with the T&C engineers and assist them in their day to day work, this allows me to learn how they work. I work both mechanically and electrically, I spend two days of my week at college doing a PEO where I learn some hands on skills that I will transfer into my apprenticeship.
I have learned lots on hands on skills, I know how to strip wire and do basic electrical installations. I know how to use various software's required in the office. I have become a more confident individual and one who is eager to learn more.
I really enjoy my programme. Most of the engineers I work with are great people, they always get you involved, its rare that they don't involve you. All of the other apprentices I have joined with are great as well and I have made some good friends so overall I really enjoy it.
Its structured okay, college could be more productive but that's about it. The work college balance is good just could be more organised due to strikes and other things out with our control.
All of the engineers are great support and always want to help you improve and learn.
They are always available but I haven't needed to reach out for help so I am unsure.
PEO allows me to learn basic skills that I can use which is really beneficial. HNC and HND will allow me to learn the engineering and theory side behind a lot of the work which will help me better understand it in work and allow me to be more confident.
