My day to day role requires me to process a lot of data from our accounting software to ensure accuracy and compliance. This is mixed with occasional project work and investigation of erroneous looking data.
My excel skills have developed a lot as have my communication skills. I feel more confident approaching peers for help with issues than I did when I first started.
I have been fortunate to see several areas of the business during my apprenticeship, so the work has always been new and fresh. The study and work complemented each other and as a result I have succeeded in my work and passed my qualification.
I feel I have been one of the luckier ones with a more varied and somewhat structured role where others may not have had the opportunity to move around and see more of the business.
My line managers and colleagues have been wonderful and I am truly grateful for their support throughout. The company doesn't feel like a big corporate engine but more like a small tight group of colleagues.
The study materials, lectures and mock exams are pretty useful and there is always someone on the end of an email to provide assistance. It is not my preferred method study but the support was always available.
It 100% helps me with my role. From the basics through to developing a deeper understanding of the accounting procedures to add value to the company.
We have a strong set of communities to join that provide social events, networking and activities to do, such as litter picking, tree planting and fund raising.
Yes
The working environment is really friendly and everyone is approachable, even the directors. There are lots of opportunities to explore the business and always new projects to work on.
Be willing to say yes to any opportunity and then figure out how to do it afterwards. There is a much bigger emphasis on people that will fit into a team and have the right attitude towards work than having the best grades or most experience.
