  • Completing Ad-Hoc data analysis pieces to support business proposals from both a business and risk perspective.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learned how to use many data analysis tools, such as Python, SQL, R, Excel and PowerQuery. I use these primarily to support business proposals which require data analysis to quantify the risk associated.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The program is fantastic, with plenty of support from my manager, mentor, buddy and the Early Talent team. The skills I have been able to develop will surely support me for the rest of my career.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I am given plenty of time from my manager to carry out the work for my apprenticeship, including every Friday to focus on this, as well as additional days around submission. There are also plenty of networks in place around the business, for any additional support you may need for other issues.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have a monthly catch-up with skills coach to discuss any issues I am having with the programme and found that they are always able to offer some helpful advice or even suggest changes to the degree directors.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My qualification has taught me how to use several tools which I may have never have had the opportunity to learn outside of academia, however, I have been able to embed their use in the workplace. The degree has also taught me several soft skills which will come useful later in my career.

  • Yes

  • The work-life balance is excellent, as well as support given by managers and Early Talent team.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Newcastle Building Society?
  • Research the company values and behaviours, I found this was very important in helping me decide where to work as it's important that your values line up!
