My main role at the moment is supporting with accessibility testing of any new and existing pages and applications on the company's internal and customer facing platforms, supporting and educating other teams on digital accessibility.
I have learnt many new skills including web programming using HTML, CSS and JavaScript, how to test for accessibility and what to test against (i.e. WCAG guidelines), and how to use JIRA and kanban to effectively manage any engagement requests.
I enjoy learning new skills, and collaborating with others who have a common goal, I have learnt a lot from the apprenticeship course and would recommend it for a good understanding of digital accessibility, wherever they sit in a product's journey.
As it is a relatively new programme there have been a few teething issues with course structure and the delivery of some modules, but on the whole I have very much enjoyed the experience.
My employer has supported me extensively throughout my apprenticeship journey, and my people leader has given me the time needed to complete my studies and get through any course work and projects set in between. We are regularly encouraged to devote time to learning and upskilling.
Training provider has given me support whenever I have needed it, replying promptly and efficiently.
It has given me a solid base to be able to perform better in my role, with the skills learnt invaluable.
There are, however I have not had the time to get involved as yet.
Yes
Lots of room and support provided to grow as a person and employee within the role, with plenty of opportunities to learn and upskill.
There are lots of roles within Barclays and there will be something for anyone wanting to apply,.
