Day to day can vary depending on the period. During exam periods, I will be balancing both work and studies. Outside of exams, my day will consist of having team meetings, arranging calls with clients to discuss any queries I have with audit work, working closely with seniors and managers, and assisting junior members of the audit
My excel skills have developed a lot. I use many formulas, some which I used before, to assist with analysing client's data. My communication skills have vastly improved. Before working at Crowe, I wasn't confident speaking to new people. However, by communicating with people in the office and clients, I have been able to improve in this.
The work itself is not difficult. However, clients can sometimes be slow which leads to you having to balance multiple jobs. The hardest part about the programme is the exams. There is quite a bit of admin which is a government requirement that can be a bit of a burden but nothing too drastic
The programme is very well structured. All 15 of our exams dates are set out from the beginning. We also attend 6 internal training courses which are spread out across the trainee programme and are completed as you become more experienced and senior.
Kaplan exam preparation days are so helpful. The Kaplan tutors respond to questions at the end of the day and via email. Kaplan also has online tutors which we can ask questions and get an answer usually on the same day.
Studying for the ACA helps with your understanding of how a client has prepared their financial statements. Learning simple concepts such as double entry helps a lot in audit work as we are able to quickly deduce whether a transaction has been correctly recorded.

Crowe is a great place to work. As trainees, we get the opportunity to work on a wide array of clients (Corporate, not-for-profit, pensions). Crowe audits some of the biggest charities. The training programme is very organised.
Reach out to Crowe employees on LinkedIn and ask questions - everyone is very friendly Research about the ACA qualification and the role of an auditor
