Providing operational management support to numerous departments within DWP to ensure service delivery standards are maintained. Managing change is also a large part of my work through project and programme management.
Yes - mostly technical (IT) and job specific about different types of work undertaken in the areas I support.
Some of it was appropriate in terms of the level of activity and how interesting it was. I felt it was more suited to entry level managers rather than me, but sawe it's benefit overall.
My tutor was very professional and well organised. She was one of the better parts of the programme and shared a lot of insight.
As much as I needed - it was really just about allowing me the time to complete the activities. I didn't need any support completing the tasks or demonstrating the required knowledge and skills.
The same - as much as was needed. Most of the help I required was about understanding what was being asked of me and how to navigate the system. My tutor was excellent.
Not especially as I have been a manager since 1993. I do see the benefits for less experienced/promoted or entry level colleagues though. The content was good for that audience.
Lots - from recreational and networking to the civil service summer school. Really good provision of support and additional elements. Great employer.
Yes
They are a world class employer with great development and support. The work we do is critical to society and very under valued by the press and the public, but I love working here.
Use the web resources the civil service makes available to ensure that you make a good quality application. Also - keep plugging away if you fail at first and accept offers of feedback from failed application(s).
